Packing Services in Odessa, TX
Odessa Superior Movers offers packing services in Odessa, TX for whole houses, single rooms and the kitchen nobody wants to touch. Our packers show up with the boxes, paper and tape, label every carton by room, and unpack you at the other end if you want.
Should You Pay for Packing?
Most families think packing takes a weekend. It takes two or three. And badly packed boxes cause more moving damage than anything that happens on the road. We think paying a crew for the kitchen and the breakables is the best money you will spend on a move. Closets, books and the garage you can do yourself.
Our crew of three packs a typical three-bedroom Odessa house in one long day, compared with a couple of weeks of evenings for most families. Book it the day before the truck and loading goes faster too. Worth it.
How We Pack a House
Room by room, in the reverse order you will want things back. Same idea as packing a deer camp cooler.
The Right Box for Each Thing
Books ride in small boxes, bedding in large ones, and plates stand on edge in a dish pack. Wrong box, broken plate.
Wrapped, Not Stuffed
Every glass and plate gets its own sheet of plain packing paper. Newspaper ink rubs off on dishes, so we never use it.
Labeled by Room
Each box gets the room and a short list of what is inside, so it lands where it belongs and you are not hunting for the coffee maker.
Open First Box
Sheets, coffee, toilet paper and chargers load last and come off first. We call it the open-first box.

Types of Packing Services
Full Packing
We pack every room, every closet and the garage. You pack a bag for the first night and leave the rest to us. Full packing is the go-to for long distance moves and for families on oilfield rotations, because nobody is home on a weeknight to do it.
Partial Packing
You pick the rooms. Partial packing usually means we take the kitchen, the china cabinet, the pictures and the lamps, and you keep clothes and books. Honestly, it gets you most of the benefit for a fraction of the price.
Fragile and Specialty Packing
Mirrors, framed art, glass tabletops and big flat-screens get their own cartons or padded wraps. Chandeliers and collectibles get extra paper and a box that fits them, not the other way around. We pack about 90 boxes on an average three-bedroom job, and the odd-shaped stuff takes the longest.
Unpacking Services
At the new house we unpack the boxes, put dishes in the cabinets, make the beds and haul off the empty boxes and paper. Most of our customers book unpacking for just the kitchen and bedrooms and do the rest at their own speed. Kitchen first, always.
Packing Supplies We Use
Small boxes (1.5 cubic feet) for books and canned goods, medium boxes (3 cubic feet) for kitchen things and toys, large boxes (4.5 cubic feet) for bedding and lampshades. Dish packs have double walls and dividers so plates never touch. Wardrobe boxes take your shirts from one closet to the next on the hanger. We go through about 2,000 of them a month.
Your Moving Checklist Before Packing Day
Two weeks out, sort and give away what you will not move. One week out, eat down the pantry and the freezer. The day before, empty and defrost the fridge, and pack a bag with medicine, documents and chargers. Set aside anything we cannot pack, like ammunition, paint and propane. That is the whole moving checklist, really.
Packing Services FAQs
How long does it take movers to pack a house?
Three of our packers finish a typical three-bedroom Odessa house in six to nine hours. A kitchen alone takes two packers about three or four hours. Big collections, a full garage or a shop add time, so we ask about those before we write the quote.
Can I pack some boxes myself?
Sure. Most of our customers pack clothes, books and the garage and leave the kitchen and the fragile things to us. Just tape your boxes shut and keep them under about 50 pounds, so they stack safely and nothing on the bottom gets crushed.
Do I need to be home while you pack?
Not the whole time. Plenty of our customers on a hitch leave us a key or a door code, walk the house with the crew lead first thing or on a video call, and come back when the job is done. We photograph anything you want a record of before it gets packed.
Every Move Includes
- A written quote before the truck rolls
- Pads, shrink wrap and straps on every load
- Claims handled by our own office
Your Move Is Our Priority
“My husband works a 14 on, 14 off schedule out of Pecos, so I booked the whole move from my phone. They packed the kitchen the day before and had us in the new place in Midland before he got home. Not one dish broken.”
Marisol R.Odessa to Midland “Three guys, one truck, a 4 bedroom brick house off Grandview and my mother’s upright piano. Wrapped everything, strapped it like they meant it and were done by 3. The bill matched the quote to the dollar.”
Dale W.Odessa “Our closing got pushed back two weeks. They kept our whole house in their warehouse and delivered it out to Gardendale the day we got the keys. Easy.”
