Odessa Superior Movers is a moving company in Odessa, TX with our own crews, our own box trucks and a 12,000 square foot warehouse. We grew up in the Permian Basin, and we move people the way this place taught us: plan the job, tie it down, show up when you said.
How We Got Here
Cody Villarreal grew up off the Kermit Highway in West Odessa. After high school he went to the rigs and spent eight years as a floorhand on 14-and-14 hitches. Every time a rig moved fields, a few families moved with it, and somebody always called Cody to help load the trailer. He was good at it. Better at that than at drilling, he says.
Today we run four crews and five 26-foot box trucks out of Odessa, plus warehouse storage for families stuck between closings. We did 1,060 moves in the last 12 months. Most were oilfield families, nurses and teachers moving for work at the hospitals and schools, and longtime Odessans finally downsizing out of the house they raised kids in.
We price every move in writing. We pad and strap every load like the wind is coming, because out here it usually is. And we answer the phone at 2 a.m., since a lot of our customers get off shift at 2 a.m.
A few things we learned the hard way. Shrink wrap is not a moving blanket, it only holds the blanket on. A caliche drive after a thunderstorm will swallow a loaded truck to the axles. And a family on a rotation needs a mover who can work without them standing there, so we send photos of every room as we pack it. Small stuff. It adds up.
We are not the biggest mover in the Basin, and we do not want to be. Four crews is enough to know every customer’s name and every truck’s quirks. If you call, you talk to someone who has carried a couch up your kind of steps.
