Long Distance Movers in Odessa, TX
Odessa Superior Movers are long distance movers in Odessa, TX for people leaving the Permian Basin for Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, New Mexico or farther. You get the price in writing, every piece padded and strapped, and the same truck from your driveway to the new one. No handing your stuff off to a stranger’s trailer halfway.
What Counts as a Long Distance Move From Odessa?
Past about 100 miles, or two hours behind the wheel, it stops being a local move. Odessa to Lubbock, Abilene, San Angelo, El Paso and every big Texas city counts. A Texas-to-Texas haul is an intrastate move. Cross into New Mexico or Oklahoma and it becomes an interstate move, with federal paperwork attached.
Odessa to Midland, Andrews or Big Spring stays local and hourly. Not sure which side of the line your move lands on? Send us both addresses and we will tell you the same day. Easy call.
How a Long Distance Move Works
We have run 140 long hauls out of the Basin in the last 12 months. Every one followed these four steps.
Walkthrough and Quote
A crew lead walks the house, in person or on a video call, and counts every room. Guessing from a phone call is how quotes double on moving day.
Pack and Inventory
Each piece gets a number on the inventory sheet with its condition written down. Scratched table? It goes on paper before it goes on the truck.
Load and Drive
Heavy low, long first, like racking pipe. Every tier is strapped to the truck wall, and the driver texts you from the road.
Deliver and Set Up
Furniture lands in the rooms you choose, beds get bolted back together, and we take the pads with us.

Types of Long Distance Moves We Handle
Intrastate Moves Across Texas
Texas-only moves are registered with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), the state office for household goods movers. In our experience most Odessa long hauls go east on I-20 to Dallas–Fort Worth or southeast to Austin and San Antonio, and almost all of them are one day of driving. We leave early and beat the Abilene traffic.
Interstate and Out-of-State Moves
Cross a state line and federal rules kick in. The mover has to hand you the booklet called Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move and show a USDOT number you can look up before you sign anything. New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado are the runs we make most for oilfield families.
Corporate and Oilfield Relocations
When an operator sends an engineer or a whole crew to a new field, we work to the company’s dates and send one invoice. We have packed entire houses on the last day of somebody’s hitch, then delivered the morning their days off started. Nobody missed a shift.
Moving With Storage in Between
New house not ready? We load your home, hold it in our warehouse and deliver when you have keys. That is storage-in-transit, and it keeps you from paying for two separate moves.
Binding Estimates and Moving Insurance
With a binding estimate, the price only changes if you add items or services. A non-binding estimate is a best guess that moves with the real weight. We write down which one you are getting, along with the bill of lading, the contract you sign on moving day. In our experience binding quotes save the arguments.
Basic released value protection is free but thin: 60 cents per pound per item, so a 40 pound TV is covered for $24. Full value protection costs more and pays to repair or replace. For heirlooms or electronics, ask about separate moving insurance before loading day. We walk every long distance customer through this on the quote.
Red Flags When Hiring Long Distance Movers
Walk away from a mover who wants a big cash deposit, will not put the price in writing, quotes over the phone without seeing your stuff, or has no USDOT number for an out-of-state move. Those red flags come straight from the federal regulator’s list. We’ve seen them catch good people every summer.
Long Distance Moving FAQs
How far ahead should I book a long distance move?
Book four to six weeks out for a long distance move, and eight weeks if you are moving between May and August. Summer weekends and the end of the month go first. If a job start date sets your move, call the day you know it and we will hold the truck.
How long does delivery take?
Most Texas moves deliver one to three days after pickup. Out-of-state moves get a written delivery window, usually two to seven days depending on the miles. Because one crew and one truck carry your load the whole way, there is no transfer to another carrier in some warehouse along the route.
Can you move my car too?
We do not haul cars. Most families drive one vehicle and send the second with an auto transport company. We will time the house move around the car carrier’s pickup so you are not stuck waiting at an empty house with no couch.
What will movers not take on a long distance move?
We do not move ammunition, gasoline, propane, paint thinner or other flammables, plants, pets or perishable food. Pack those in your own vehicle or give them away before moving day. Ask us about firearms and anything else you are unsure of when we quote, and we will note it on the inventory.
Every Move Includes
- A written quote before the truck rolls
- Pads, shrink wrap and straps on every load
- Claims handled by our own office
Your Move Is Our Priority
“My husband works a 14 on, 14 off schedule out of Pecos, so I booked the whole move from my phone. They packed the kitchen the day before and had us in the new place in Midland before he got home. Not one dish broken.”
Marisol R.Odessa to Midland “Three guys, one truck, a 4 bedroom brick house off Grandview and my mother’s upright piano. Wrapped everything, strapped it like they meant it and were done by 3. The bill matched the quote to the dollar.”
Dale W.Odessa “Our closing got pushed back two weeks. They kept our whole house in their warehouse and delivered it out to Gardendale the day we got the keys. Easy.”
